“I like to think of yoga as practicing the art of being human.” - Me, AF

Yoga Talk #3

I had the honor of sitting down with long time friend and studio-owner, Jeff Chen of Pure Yoga Texas, for a chat about my yoga journey and where I find myself now. Have a listen or a look-see to get to know more about me, my journey from yoga competitor to yoga mom to yoga therapist, and how yoga relates to my life today.

AFTON

ABOUT

I am an IAYT-certified yoga therapist with over 15 years of teaching experience.  I work with individuals of all ages, shapes, and sizes. My specialization in yoga therapy focuses on pelvic floor health, specifically for women in their perinatal phase of life.

Other areas I can assist clients with are:

  • Pain management and mitigation*

  • Postural alignment

  • Nervous system regulation

  • Anxiety and/or depression*

*these services work best when in conjunction with your healthcare provider

My in-studio yoga classes are welcoming to all bodies and levels. In them I will challenge, move, and support you in ways that aim to reintroduce you to yourself over and over again, so that you may begin to see more clearly your innate, powerful potential. You can find my in-class offerings on the Calendar page.

I have been studying different yoga modalities for almost 20 years and would love to meet you on the mat for an amalgamation of postures, breath work, meditation, and a lot of exploration of yourself. My hope is that - through a yoga practice - you can experience the intricacies that make you uniquely you, and begin a journey toward personalized and radiant health.

I like to think of yoga as practicing the art of being human, and I am endlessly fascinated by aspects of human potential. I view yoga as one of the many ways to stay connected to our humanness and believe yoga can help us reap the benefits of our brains and bodies working together in harmony.
